Unlike the 1XL model the 1JK model comes fitted with an oil cooler as
standard. This is mounted just behind the steering head and is plumbed into the engine by
the oil filter chamber. The cooler takes oil from the pressure feed side of the pump and
cools it before it enters the oil filter, this oil is then goes on to feed the cylinder
head and crankshaft. To ensure that the system is correctly bled I carry out the following
proceedure.
|
- Fill the tank with the specified amount of oil.
- Remove the bleed bolt situated just below the oil filter chamber and
between the oil cooler pipes.
- Engage second or third gear and push the bike untill oil appears at the
bleed hole.
- Replace the bleed bolt.
- Remove the oil filer casing bleed bolt.
- Engage second or third gear and push the bike untill oil appears at the
bleed hole.
- Replace the bleed bolt.
- Engage second or third gear and push the bike for a similiar period as
in 3 and 6 above. This should ensure fresh oil has reached the cylinder head.
- Start the bike.
